Ben Edwards says the campmates are becoming increasingly irritable
The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle has witnessed several big changes over the past few days. Most notably, Noel Edmonds (the campmate who secured this show’s biggest-ever celeb pay check) was sent home, following a surprisingly short-lived stint in camp.
Noel’s departure says a lot about the British public; no longer do we crave conflict (Big Brother ended for a reason…), we now prefer light-hearted, uplifting entertainment, not controversy!
Noel’s chauvinistic comments to Rita Simons about going ‘behind the bike shed’ clearly didn’t go down well, we much prefer the wholesome, family-like dynamic that had flourished prior to his arrival. The result? Goodbye Noel!
If we’re hoping for continued peace, there might be disappointment awaiting us. The campmates (fan-favourite Harry included) are becoming increasingly irritable. With hunger and tiredness kicking in, Harry Redknapp‘s telling fewer funny stories and sensitivity is dwindling.
For example, the celebs were initially very careful about not upsetting Anne Hegerty. However, Harry showed no hesitation recently when he abruptly announced that her fantasy dinner party was ‘boring’.
We’ll likely see the unravelling consequences of impatience over coming days. This won’t stop the public loving Harry though! He’s won us over because he’s real and relatable, honesty accompanies his genuine nature.
John Barrowman was rushed to hospital following an injury to his ankle. After an evening away from the cameras, with a comfy bed, food and drink, he might have the energy to overcompensate as he attempts to regain lost screen time.
This attention-seeking behaviour would rattle his fellow-campers, so let’s hope he remembers their fragility! Nick Knowles is the celeb who would most likely respond to John’s energy as they’ve grated on each other during previous episodes.
Everyone’s generally getting on well. If the producers want to shake things up, they’ll focus on food! The celebs didn’t care when they were competing for immunity, but they do want treats. Even Emily Atack found herself stealing an extra chilli at dinner! Arguably one of the least contentious campers…
It’s unsurprising that Malique Thompson-Dwyer was the second to leave the jungle, he didn’t make a lasting impression. Both him and Sair Khan have been given little air time, so I was unsurprised she was next to pack her bags!
My core four campers that I predict will do well are: Harry, John, Nick and Fleur East. These celebs all stand out naturally, and for the right reasons. Meanwhile, the camp will continue to divide; Harry will stay with the girls while the men will, rather stereotypically, attempt to assert their dominance.
A ‘Queen of the jungle’ is looking increasingly likely (no, not Holly!), but for a ‘King’ to be crowned, Harry is clearly outshining all the boys.
