Mac Miller was reportedly “dead for hours” before being found at his home in California, TMZ reports.
The rapper and former boyfriend of Ariana Grande died at the age of 26 on Friday following a suspected overdose, with fans and musicians around the world paying tribute to the talented music star.
Law enforcement sources have now revealed to TMZ that they believed he died “a long time before” they arrived at his home in response to a 911 call.
TMZ reports that police are now looking into a party Mac, real name Malcolm James McCormick, had at his house the night before he was found dead.
It comes after a friend spoke out about Ariana Grande’s involvement in her former boyfriend’s sobriety before his death.
Fans of the rapper were quick to blame his 25 year old ex girlfriend Ariana Grande for his death after she got engaged to Pete Davidson just one month after their split.
Mac’s friend Shane Powers took to his Twitter page just hours after the death was confirmed and warned his 11,400 followers to not put blame on the Dangerous Woman hitmaker.
“Ariana Grande didn’t kill Mac. Mac Killed Mac. Leave her alone,” the radio host protested.
He continued to write: “He’d be furious with ANYONE who made any s**tty comment to her.”

“I’d f**kin know,” he added before reiterating: “Leave her alone.” He has since spoken in a podcast to commend Ariana for her support during Mac’s sobriety.
He said of the couple, who dated for almost two years: “They were very much in love and I have to say, she was incredible when he was first sobering up. She was a f**king G to him.
“There could not have been anybody more supportive of him being sober than Ariana. I saw that, I was around it. I took phone calls from her. ‘How do I help?, What do I do?’”
